Huliganov’s Russia 6/11 – First Afternoon in St Petersburg

Original playout date: 26 November 2007
Duration: 15:54

The first afternoon and evening in St Petersburg, featuring footage from the metro and from the Church of the Resurrection, and a chat with up and coming artist Vladimir Golendza, who came up to me while I was filming and started to give useful information about the city.

At first the film is strangely silent, which means the usually intro song went wrong, but then is a charming solo made in our Moscow apertment years earlier by a home help called Natasha. She was so intense and so intent in forcing her views on us that we were a little bit concerned about keeping her for the long-run, an replaced her quite quickly, but her singing and playing was very nice.

Quote of the clip: “Zey are happy zey won against England. zis was several days ago, but the joy is unceasing!”
