Uncle Davey’s Herts Content S2 E17 – Leighton Buzzard to Pitstone

Original YT playout date: 8 September 2008
Duration: 35:06

This is a canalside walk in two parts (which are also parts 17 and 18 respectively of the larger series from our holiday in the UK in the summer of 2008).

Towards the end of this episode a quite remarkable natural drama plays out before our eyes whereby a seagull attacks a canalside heron and gets seen off by a crow. The inland birds sticking up for each other against an intruder from the coast? Hopefully you will enjoy this walk though some of the natural beauty that has emerged around the man-made canal, and also enjoy the background music selected for your listening pleasure.

This was a time in 2008 when I was preparing for the marathon and had been losing weight and was about 118 (from a maximum of 140 kg) at the time of this walk. I was able to under this kind of 15 mile walk along the canal, and England is a great place for doing something like walking along the towpath of the Grand Union Canal. I never got below 116 kg that time, went gradually back up to 140 kg, and since discovering keto got back to 116,1, which I was thins morning, while scheduling this, but with a much better answer and understanding of how to lose more weight, and therefore after all this time I do hope to be able to get to a lower weight and then go back and do all these walks better and faster.

Quote of the clip: “They still point at aeroplanes there, according to my Dad”.
