Music used: Impromptu music composed by me

Just mucking around this time. Impromptu, random music based on some chords I threw together a few seconds earlier. Sophie was six and this is a nice memory of the way she was at the time.

This showcasing of the charms of “Aunty” Irina was done back in the day at her own initiative, by way of a little potential matchmaking for her – but since she is now spoken for if you like this you’re too late! Hence this is a video that is not listed any more on YouTube. It is up if you know the link, but it’s not being broadcast in the usual way.
It was a very popular film until I took it offline. The feature of “unlisting” enables me to put some videos in this blog which you won’t find if you only follow me on YT itself without being subscribed to this blog. All the more reason to follow over here as well as on YT!

Just a nice simple video of a sunny morning and Sophie’s time in 2006 with her cousin Vika from Belarus. She was staying with Sophie over the Summer. Irina is teaching the girls to rollerblade, but they are falling about all over the place.

George’s adventures with a remote control and a grasshopper
Production date: 16 July 2006
Playout date: 16 July 2006
Camera: Fuji Finepix
Post Production: Windows Movie Maker – slight use
Location: Home on the terrace
Soundtrack info: Natural environment only
Languages used: English, Russian
Animals featured: Green Bush Cricket (Tettigonia viridissima)
In this one, I try to film a grasshopper – or more accurately a bush cricket – which has latched itself onto my son’s head. George was 3 years old at that time, and we used to keep a pool going out on the terrace in the summer.
While chasing him aroound on his little buggy what I fail to notice is that he has removed the TV remote control. Irina is looking for it and comes to retrieve it but just after he’s thrown it in the pool! We took the batteries out and dried it off and got it working again afterwards.
Summer Morning on the Terrace
Production date: 27 June 2006
Playout date: 27/6/2006
Camera: Fuji Finepix
Post Production: None – but audioswap done in YT
Location: Home on terrace
This 26 second otherwise very ordinary piece is worth commenting on for two reasons, really. firstly, it has for no apparent reason risen to over 500 views per month on average for the simple reason that the centre frame features “Aunty” Irina in a black bikini. This tells us the easy way to achieve success on YT.
The second point worth commenting is that the same video has had now three audio tracks – the first was uploaded just with the camera sound that was going on that morning, and shortly after that YT started to offer a feature called “audioswap” where you could get royalty free music (in exchange for allowing an advert on the side of the piece concerned) and replace the original soundtrack with this. It was a good way round the time when you could get a good piece of video blocked and a black mark on your account for using proprietary music.
I replaced the audio that wasn’t copyrighted with one “royalty free” track offered by YT, and shortly after they told me it was blocked and so I had to do the audio swap again. You could in theory audioswap a piece of video as often as you liked.
