Category Archives: Autism related

We have two autistic children, I also had one in my first marriage, so I think I know a little bit about autism. At least enough to work out that 1) it’s potentially big business and therefore not everyone bringing “help” has pure motives – it stands to become 1-2% of the economy in the future, and 2) most of what gets hyped about regarding autism is not true or at least not true for large numbers of autistic people. Hopefully you might find a bit more truth in this section of my blog.

Bengal Cat Cares for Autistic Boy

Original YT playout date: 19 June 2010
Duration: 6:14

There are various animal therapies offered to autistic children – hippotherapy (which involves horses, not hippos, by the way), kynotherapy (known in Polish as “dogotherapia” as otherwise the carers might take them to the cinema instead of giving them King Charles Spaniels to play with, and even dolphins are pressed into service to give animal therapies to autistic children. What you don’t read about is cat therapy for autistic kids – well, it stands to reason, doesn’t it? Cats have autistic characters themselves, how are they going to help kids who are autistic interact?

Well, maybe because of that, they’re actually on the right wavelength to understand. Here see for yourselves how Pushkin has a relationship with my son George which seems to enrich both of them. Whenever he leaves the house, Pushkin follows him around and looks after him – but when a spider appears, the race is on and the fastest of the two gets the treat!

For Parents of Children with Autism

Original YT playout date: 11 January 2010
Duration: 2:06

This is just a heads up in case you have not yet tried Omega 3. For Tatiana and George here it seems to be producing the best results of any method tried so far. Certainly between December 2008 and Summer 2009 we spent a fortune on this gluten free casein free diet, plus xylitol and all the other things involved in that diet, with no effects either on removing the “offending” foods, nor on returning them to the diet also. The idea that autism is caused by improper digestion of gluten and casein producing some morphine like substances may well be the case for some autistic children, but, it would appear, not ours. However, omega 3 contains as part of it a mild chelative acid, aiding the brain to rid itself of mercury. There is no way to take part of a child’s brain and see if there is mercury in it, the only thing to do is to chelate mildly, and if there is an improvement then the suggestion is that thimerol or other sources of mercury and/or other metals has caused the condition. At the present time the amounts of metal in and around us, through vaccines, through food, even in the air, with the exception of lead which has decreased since unleaded petrol, is much much higher than in previous generations. Even 18 years ago, when there was already a fairly well developed diagnostic apparatus for autism, about 1 in 8000 UK children were born autistic, as the NAS were quoting back then, now it is one in 300. A startling rise. This completely discounts the idea that a gene of autism exists, and on the other hand the fact that many people despite vaccinating do not have autistic kids, whereas others have more than one autistic child looks like a genetic predisposition, but people who have autistic children often cannot identify anyone who had autism previously in their families. The gene, in so far as it exists, is probably a lack of ability to prevent metals in the blood from entering the brain, the so-called brain-blood barrier. Probably the gene which is causing autism in such amazing numbers now which was not seen before is an innate lower ability to deal with mercury which never needed to be put to the test until the end of the twentieth century.

The issue needs to be properly examined, and if it turns out to be the case then at the double we need to research chelation techniques for affected children. Omega 3 is great, but it only scratches the surface. On the other hand I know of someone with a child which had Asperger’s Syndrome, and Omega 3 on its own was enough to provide a complete therapy.

Two Birthdays

Original playout date: 11 July 2007
Duration: 9:52

Once again a nice memory of my late parents, and I am glad that there are these few snatches of them that live on. As indeed do the charming scenes of all three little ones so cute and tiny, and Elena walking around on her own. These were the days we thought would never end, and thanks to video, my friend, in a sense they don’t.

Punch cartoon (1907); illustrates the unpopularity amongst Punch readers of a proposed 1907 income tax by the Labour Party in the United Kingdom. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The below pdf’s are only intended for your kind attention if you are all three of the following:

1. Someone who pays income tax in Poland
2. Someone who knows and likes my internet output (on blogs, on YT, etc) and
3. Someone who hasn’t already a decision in mind as to where to allocate their 1% of tax.

The idea is that you could help us without it costing you a penny. I would also like for it to be not at the cost of any other worthy causes you may already be supporting, so please don’t take this as a request to divert to my family’s charitable funds away from anyone who is used to receiving your help.

Many thanks to those who are willing to take the trouble to include one of my family in their tax return.

George’s Evening Walk

Here we can see George and me enjoying an evening walk and meeting some horses, over in Cussay, France. George gets used to horses during his hippotherapy, and so it’s no surprise that he has no fear of them, more surprising is the way the horses came over and wanted to see George. They seemed almost to treat this little autistic boy as a guest of honour, specially showing themselves to him. Animals sometimes have an understanding which is lacking in human beings.

Lost in France – (recent video)

I write ‘recent video’ rather than the term I used before ‘current video’ as it is something I uploaded about a month ago already and the backlog of keeping 2011 uploaded YT videos current on here is already bigger than I expected it to be, so I’ll be working on that between now and the end of March. Anyway, it’s video I took in early July, so the footage itself is more than 8 months old, and I did the post-production a good 4 months back, if I’m not mistaken.

It’s actually pretty bad of me not to have accelerated this one a bit, as it tells the story of how the French police rescued George when he ran away during our French holiday, and how the provincial French detectives used the knowledge that autistic children and animals follow the direction of the sun when they don’t know where to go to uncannily track and locate him, even before the dogs arrived from Tours, and while the helicopter circling overhead had no clues, as he was in a barn.

If you have or know anyone with autistic children, you should listen to this one, as it could come in very handy…

And chapeau bas to the French police. Even in a sleepy village, those guys are wide awake. As far from the Clouseau image as you could get.

He’s not heavy – he’s her brother!

We went out for a walk among the sunflowers to use up George’s energy, but in the end when he flagged it was Sophie who ended up using her energy. Pretty strong she is too for a little girl. I think she gets it from her mother…

I’m still getting the hang of doing galleries…

This doesn’t look like I thought it would, but what it is is actually four photos from the International Business Forum website – the Christmas party event at which I was asked to be the auctioneer for the evening’s charity auction, so you can see me here in the best bib and tucker. I just took the ones with me in but you can see more on the site http://www.ibforum.cz

What I found gratifying was that the shots of others taken while I was talking as auctioneer looked as if people were enjoying the humour. They had completely different faces to the ones during the serious bit before where the people running the Pink Crocodile charity talked about the difficult conditions of the kids they are helping. People looked a bit stressed by that, nobody likes suffering, much.

But people gave generously in the auction, we sold everything for good prices, and I hope my jokes didn’t upset too many people!

Some footage from my actual auctioning should be coming up in the not too distant future on video too!

Otherwise Engaged (Short story by me for Daily Telegraph Creative Writing Competition in 2008)

The "confusion of tongues" by Gustav...

Old Peleg, preaching

The Lonely Terrorist sat on a riverside bench in a suburb of New York where he had been commanded to undertake the Engagement, nursing the ancient flask containing the next step for human history, which God had given him.

Dr Samuel Otherwise was near the end of a distinguished career in the sort of science journalists don’t get to tell the half of and most they write is wrong.

Samuel had long since given up expecting anyone else to have any understanding of his work such of it that wasn’t classified anyway – or his wider ideas and beliefs. At best anyone would take it as a joke, but having totally alienated his university friends, he became overwhelmed by ennui early in life as to explaining the Plan of God with rational arguments; everyone’s false premises were so deeply engrained he could do nothing. He could not enable them to see things as God sees them, so insistent were they in seeing things as men do, applying human value judgements to everything, even the brightest and best could not place themselves outside the space-time continuum and perceive the mind of God.
