Schubert’s Staendchen

Original playout date: 21 September 2007
Duration: 3:44

This is a staple of classical music lovers, regurgitated here by Huliganov who gets interrupted and goes all out of character at the end of the performance. Enjoy.

Holiday in Alsace #7 – Going up Monkey Mountain

Original playout date: 19 September 2007
Duration: 6:57

Agent de YouTube Uncle Davey takes Sophie up Monkey Moutain in Alsace, which is a rhesus monkey enclosure and Sophie has a nice time feeding them.

It’s a bit scary really the way she comes right up to them. Thankfully they are not so aggressive and usually will warn prior to biting like most animals.

Huliganov’s “Carnival is over”

Original playout date: 15 September 2007
Duration: 9:52

“This romantic song by the Seekers is actually originally a Russian folksong of quite brutal content. Huliganov brings the two themes back together again, both culturally and linguistically.

Lyrics:

Say goodbye my own true lover
As we sing a lovers song
How it breaks my heart to leave you
Now the carnival is gone
High above the dawn is waiting
And my tears are falling rain
For the carnival is over
We may never meet again

Now the harbour light is calling
This will be our last goodbye
Though the carnival is over
I will love you till I die
Though the carnival is over
I will love you till I die

Holiday in Alsace #6 – Schwarzwald – The Black Forest

Original playout date: 14 September 2007
Duration: 14:18

One advantage of holidaying in Alsace is that you don’t only have the Vosges mountains of France to visit, but also just across the river Rhein is Germany and the Black Forest, so we took a day trip there.

Black Forest gateau, did we manage to find it? Watch to find out…

Berlin evening with friends

Original playout date: 14 September 2007
Duration: 15:01

After the 7/7/07 meeting, which was shown on an earlier video (I’ll make this a video response to that one) we went back to our friends from Berlin who had invited us to stay and they showed us – and via camera you the viewers – around the much changed and ever interesting city of Berlin by road.

This probably has one of the highest number of languages in it as we are speaking English, German and Russian and then there is Schuberts Heidenroeslein in Japanese, selected as this is a song the German version of which is a party piece sometimes delivered by our dear friend Dr Peter Heinemann, featured here, when in the right mood.

Huliganov rants on keyboard hygiene and sushi bars

Original playout date: 14 September 2007
Duration: 13:21

It mentions http://www.huliganov.com but as you will know by being here, in the end I opted to develop more on Huliganov.TV as it is a bit like a TV channel with the preponderance of video that is on here.

Huli has a word or too for those concerned with the current Russian miltary build-up.

Good fellers?

Tree felling going on in a Warsaw park. I can’t get in to work, but at least I can make the best of the situation by making a short film recording my thoughts on the subject.

Choosing a Bengal Cat これは 猫です

Original playout date: 10 September 2007
Duration: 11:43

A collection of fine thoroughbred Bengals. We decided in the end for Pushkin, the marbled brown four month kitten you see in the frame at 10:40, and reserved him, but I am still hoping for comments and advice from bengal cat cognoscenti. Two weeks later Pushkin came to our home and 10 and a half years later he is still here enjoying himself. I have added a category under family members for Pushkin and this is the first one as it’s the first time he ever appeared on a film, as this is where we meet him for the first time, the guy who sleeps on our bed every night.
