Sunset with migrating starlings and the beginnings of a tornado

Original YT playout date: 16 January 2010
Duration: 5:49

This interesting sky was filmed on my drive home last year one November evening. The song is a composition of mine which doesn’t have words yet, but I am thinking about plum trees with white blossom on, seen across the plain of a river in spring flood. If anyone wants to turn that into a lyric, be my guest. After that we have a fairly random scene where Sophie starts to do one of her extemporaneous “stories” while we are waiting for our takeaway to be ready. I’m not sure that what you see in the sky is really the beginning of a tornado, but at first glance it sort of looked like one. Not sure how else something like that would be there just on its own like that …

Teaching the Bengal Cat a taste for human blood

Original YT playout date: 27 December 2009
Duration: 2:24

They will play fight with Pushkin even when he’s not in the mood, and that’s when he shows them who’s boss…

Good for him, I say. Not an ounce of sympathy from me if a cat scratches you!

Relaxing on the Terrace

Original YT playout date: 25 December 2009
Duration: 18:59

A bit more footage from the terrace, from back in September 2009. It looks very different now. Most of the plants here didn’t go forward, the peonies were effectively annuals. The lilac is still alive, but even the dogwood went in the end, though I did last a good few years. The yuccas are still with us, the tamarisk not, or the roses. I think the junipers mainly lasted, but not even all of them.

Some scenes from time back in Poland

Original YT playout date: 28 June 2009
Duration: 17:02

In between the Prague vlogs, obviously I am back home in Poland. Here are a few scenes from Poland in May. They are mixed content, and include a further discussion of the goldlist methodology, of weather, and my usual trick of filming what I see, not all of it particularly pleasant, but we are, after all, sharing this planet with the girl who was sitting crying on the kerb next to her own vomit, and with the gentleman who was slapping his bitch near my house, who also got caught on camera. These people we share the planet with, and the scenes are real and not staged, as you can find on many channels on youtube, unfortunately! There is also joy and family pleasure among the grim reality, such as seeing a Portuguese student band in traditional garb in the tram as they were visiting Warsaw, Sophie’s birthday, and treating my wife to a fine meal of sushi. In short this is a mixed bag of everything.

A demo of the GoldList Method is included.
Includes Sophie’s 9th birthday party.

Family fun in the sun

It’s more sunny now, and we have a look at the old patio, and a nearby park with a play area that Tanya likes to explore the plants of, and how young Pushkin, the bengal cat who already has his own international feline audience here on YouTube, is getting on.

To You, Who Soar on Eagle’s Wing – original Song for my wife

Original YT playout date: 13 April 2009
Duration: 1:29

To my wife, who is like an angel in human form, I wrote the present song (words and melody) in 2002 in Moscow.

I wasn’t able to play it very well, and I am still not very good at performing it – maybe some musicians out there can help me do a proper rendering of this composition? There are two verses here, but the whole poem was four verses long, and I cannot remember all of it. The chords given below are what they should be – the piano here is obviously not in that key, even before I chipmunked it!

1. To (C)you, who (G)soar on (a)eagle’s (e)wing

A(a)bove all (C)other (e)women,

To (a)you al(e)one this (a)song I (C)sing

My (a)heart with (G)love a-(e)brimmin'(E)

To (a)you al(e)one this (a)song I (C7)sing

My (F)heart with (G7)love a-(C)brimmin'(G)

2. The mountain lake and forest fringe

Are fair enough to view

But far beyond their beauty’s range

I hold the look of you

I cannot recall the third verse, which related to the sound and scent of her, but the fourth verse logically follows:

4. Because my senses you full fill

Good sense it seems to make

That I should love and love you still

And never you forsake.

And that’s exactly what I’ve done!
