A Game of Chess

Merry Christmas! Many young people around the world will open their presents this morning and find their very first chess set among the contents of their stockings, sleeping bags, or aerodrome windsocks that they leave out for their presents the night before. Eagerly, these kids search YouTube for some help in getting started with the Royal Game – and alight on this newly posted video. Here, they hope, they might find some help getting started with the game, get some tips for beginners, get something to sharpen there play. Well they might. But then again, which is far more likely, they might not. But a good time was had by all, anyway…

If you want to play turn based chess on line then the place I recommend is http://www.itsyourturn.com I’ve been a member there for about seven and a half years. My user name is Uncle Davey, so find me and give me a game there! You get to play a certain number of moves a day even without paying a cent, while the unlimited moves and ad-free environment is a very reasonable sub.

Coming soon – ” History with Heath” on cable networks near you!

Original YT playout date: 12 December 2009

I broke my current YT strike (occasioned by an unfair copyright strike on my channel – now the TV station concerned has fairly withdrawn their complaint, but I was still waiting for YT to remove the strike on my account, which did happen in due course) just to promote a friend of mine, Alan Heath, of alanheath channel fame, who had received a proposal to take on a TV programme in the same style, only more produced, than his existing work on channel http://www.youtube.com/alanheath.

Many of my subscribers also watch Alan’s work, and he was too modest to put an announcement about this on his own channel, but we’re all very excited about it. – Another youtuber breaks into TV, that has to be a good sign for all of us, even those who like me watch very little TV. It shows that we are becoming the new mainstream, and that the modest amateur producer really can achieve the recognition that once was the domain of people fortunate enough to know people in TV.”

Fat Blokes on Tea

Original YT playout date: 26 June 2008
Duration: 1:07:25

A hopefully amusing conversation on the terrace between three middle aged men in varying degrees of overweightness. Regardless of the alcohol-free nature of the occasion we manage to talk amusingly for some period and do some impromptusinging for the neighbours. This contains such gems as Moggy and Alan’s matrimonial ads, a rendition of “”Two Little Boys””, and a history lesson about Braveheart, all unscripted and unrehearsed.

Enjoy. We did. (I think).

Later that day we rang the radioshow together that you can see on this channel as the item before this.
