Some scenes from time back in Poland

Original YT playout date: 28 June 2009
Duration: 17:02

In between the Prague vlogs, obviously I am back home in Poland. Here are a few scenes from Poland in May. They are mixed content, and include a further discussion of the goldlist methodology, of weather, and my usual trick of filming what I see, not all of it particularly pleasant, but we are, after all, sharing this planet with the girl who was sitting crying on the kerb next to her own vomit, and with the gentleman who was slapping his bitch near my house, who also got caught on camera. These people we share the planet with, and the scenes are real and not staged, as you can find on many channels on youtube, unfortunately! There is also joy and family pleasure among the grim reality, such as seeing a Portuguese student band in traditional garb in the tram as they were visiting Warsaw, Sophie’s birthday, and treating my wife to a fine meal of sushi. In short this is a mixed bag of everything.

A demo of the GoldList Method is included.
Includes Sophie’s 9th birthday party.

Prague Vlog #3 – Choosing a flat

Original YT playout date: 28 June 2009
Duration: 30:09

This is an account of the third week, and the highlights include flying in, and seeing Prague from the air, and then a couple of visits to flats. We see three flats, the last of them is the one I rented.

I couldn’t even remember these others I looked at but I am really happy about the choice I made and also the owner turned out to be a good renter. At the end we were both sad not to have been able to carry on. But that’s all four years later.
Nevertheless, you can see here the evidence in the 28th (27:55) minute that we agreed that the TV would stay, but he took it away and said that’s what we agreed. But in fact I was happy not to have one. He did give me a work table instead. And I did a lot of good work at that table instead of wasting time watching TV.

Tommy Boyd and Viktor Huliganov discuss Tommy’s social experiment on media-fuelled outrage

Original YT playout date: 27 June 2009
Duration: 24:18

This was a live radio broadcast on Play Talk UK on 16th December 2008. Tommy Boyd and Nicky in the Studio received a skype call from this channel’s very own Viktor D. Huliganov, and the topics of discussion include:

1) Tommy’s famous “”set-up”” of Off Com and the powers that be by feigning that part of the country had down time. In fact what he did was fade down all the programme, so that no-body heard anything, following which he played pre-recorded complaints about what he was supposed to have said in the meantime. Find out what happened next …

2) Discussion of Viz, and why it isn’t translatable into other languages

3) A review of the internet project http://www.internetshout.com/

Enjoy!

Have you seen but a white lily grow?

Thursday, January 7, 2021

Original YT playout date: 21 June 2009
Duration: 1:48

Lucjan O. Poworocki returns with a grievous rendition of this music class staple. Originally composed by Robert Johnson in 1616 for one of Ben Johnson’s plays, and possibly hummed by the Bard William Shakespeare himself on his way to work, this piece has been massacred by aficionados over the centuries, most notably of late by the former Police-man and head teacher Sting, who got his name while trying to put the songs lyrics into action and “taste the bag of the bee”. Probably.

The Pinsky Minsky Boys live on the Chugunka

Original YT playout date: 20 June 2009
Duration: 1:33

“My sister in law, Irina, caught this rare footage of buskers actually singing and playing in tune on the “”chugunka””, or Belarusian train, between Pinsk and Minsk. They are an unknown, presumably unsigned act, so I decided to describe them to science and give them the name “”The Pinsky Minsky Boys””. I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot from them, so come on, WMG, UMG and all the other MGs out there, get you skates on, send your scouts over to Belarus and sign them up!

If you are A MUSICAL ACT without a label, and you want to be given a vacuous name for your group or band, then get in contact with me containing a few details about yourself. Be sure to include “”Silly Name Required”” in the subject header.”
