On this occasion I was half in Prague and half in Germany. The highlights of this film include waiting in vain for the astronomical clock to perform with my aunt and uncle, someone who went to sleep in the underground, Frankfurt am Main airport’s railway station and Mannheim station. “The result of walking in the wrong direction to where I thought I was going. This film contains some mistaken information, for which I blame imprecision in the guide book I bought: the Golem is not supposed to be resting in the place claimed in this film, but actually about 500m closer to the centre.
I encoded this at a higher level than I usually encode hour long films, and I hope it isn’t too slow coming through. If you do get what people in the industry call “”boofering””, then just press the paws button with one of your pause and go get an indeclinable coffee, or some tea with a soft semi-vowel stem, and it should be all right when you get back.
Featured in this film is the alphabet man sculpture outside the Rudolftherednosinum. If you should see on the current google satellite map the location of this, namely
then you’ll probably just see a poor attempt at making a yin and yang sign from assorted greenery. This is because the scuplture is new – for the Czech presidency of the EU. How long it will remain after I do not know, but hopefully it will stand the test of time. After all, the Eye-full tower in Paris was only supposed to be up a while, and they still haven’t taken that down.
I’m not an expert on the Czech Republic as it is my new country, and so I’m grateful for any local people who would like to comment on the films. Any Prague based youtubers wishing to appear in one of my Prague films are also welcome to declare themselves.” Continue reading “Prague Vlog #4 – Alphabet Man Golem”→

This is an account of the third week, and the highlights include flying in, and seeing Prague from the air, and then a couple of visits to flats. We see three flats, the last of them is the one I rented.
I couldn’t even remember these others I looked at but I am really happy about the choice I made and also the owner turned out to be a good renter. At the end we were both sad not to have been able to carry on. But that’s all four years later.
Nevertheless, you can see here the evidence in the 28th (27:55) minute that we agreed that the TV would stay, but he took it away and said that’s what we agreed. But in fact I was happy not to have one. He did give me a work table instead. And I did a lot of good work at that table instead of wasting time watching TV.

It’s the last day of a decade and fittingly thus is the first in a series called my prague vlogs, which show a time in my life which started actually 11 years ago and lasted about 4 years when I was regularly coming to Prague. The Prague Vlog series is more than one hundred parts and diarises that interesting time in my life.
Enjoy!
Original blurb: As I’m a lot more in the Czech Republic these days, and in honour of a youtube friend who used to do fantastic Prague vlogs when she lived here (see the channel Praguevlogg) I’m calling the series of films I’ll be doing while around this city my “Prague vlogs”. This is the first of them, a brief one just taking a peek at some of the touristy bits around the centre, the astronomical clock and the old town square with Tyn Church in the background.
