It’s that time of year, so we get around the tree and get opening the presents. But of course we remember the greatest gift of all. That usurper Santa Claus has no place in our household, we know that we are giving each other presents to celebrate that God Himself came into the world in human flesh to save us. “Twas the week before Christmas, and all round the town
Uncle Davey found things that were making him frown
The carp were all stuffed in a tank full of piss
Thinking “even the frying pan’s better than this”
With soap suds and fungus – a piteous sight!
(But I show the way to keep catfish aright)
With incomplete sets and confusing intentions
The products for children’s gifts needed a mention
Just one dwarf per set, while the picture showed seven
May these toy makers get their reward in heaven!
No Happy, No Sneezy, Ach, Donner und Blitzen
Das ganze Ding war nur ein Krock von Schitzen
Thought up by some in-Doc-trinated numpty
To catch out the Dopey, but make the rest Grumpy!
Just boxes of cons were the toys on store shelves
While the queues for a tire change were tiring themselves
With temperatures minus fourteen, and the rest
You wouldn’t want to be out improperly dressed.
Fine folk of goodwill bearing Dortmund plates
Parked up for a while in the invalid space
No badge they did show, and the mother jumped out
Like a sprite, disability strongly in doubt
So they got named and shamed and blamed and inflamed
But let us just pray that they do not get lamed.
For the real needy not one ounce of consideration
But no balls to get out and make confrontation!
But I heard her exclaim as I strolled out of sight
“You can’t film me, man, for I know my rights.” Continue reading “Love and Grumpiness, or, the Pre-Christmas Spirit – with fine poem wot I wrote.”→

This interesting sky was filmed on my drive home last year one November evening. The song is a composition of mine which doesn’t have words yet, but I am thinking about plum trees with white blossom on, seen across the plain of a river in spring flood. If anyone wants to turn that into a lyric, be my guest. After that we have a fairly random scene where Sophie starts to do one of her extemporaneous “stories” while we are waiting for our takeaway to be ready. I’m not sure that what you see in the sky is really the beginning of a tornado, but at first glance it sort of looked like one. Not sure how else something like that would be there just on its own like that … Continue reading “Sunset with migrating starlings and the beginnings of a tornado”→

Yes indeed, it’s another blatant bandwagon jump by Usenetposts Channel, as we do another remix of the famous “Charlie Bit My Finger” viral. I fully expect this to go every single bit as viral as all the other Charlie bandwagon jumpers have, and if not, I’ll jolly well want to know why! Merry Christmas! Many young people around the world will open their presents this morning and find their very first chess set among the contents of their stockings, sleeping bags, or aerodrome windsocks that they leave out for their presents the night before. Eagerly, these kids search YouTube for some help in getting started with the Royal Game – and alight on this newly posted video. Here, they hope, they might find some help getting started with the game, get some tips for beginners, get something to sharpen there play. Well they might. But then again, which is far more likely, they might not. But a good time was had by all, anyway…
If you want to play turn based chess on line then the place I recommend is http://www.itsyourturn.com I’ve been a member there for about seven and a half years. My user name is Uncle Davey, so find me and give me a game there! You get to play a certain number of moves a day even without paying a cent, while the unlimited moves and ad-free environment is a very reasonable sub. Continue reading “A Game of Chess”→
