This evening we are in Taksim, in Beyoğlu, where the most thriving part of the city’s nightlife is, with shops open until late, and restaurants until even later. We went to one restaurant famous for the quality of its mezedes or hors d’oeuvres and were treated to some impromptu fasıl music. The title “Ye Beni” means “Eat me”, though whether it has the full range of meanings associated with that phrase in vernacular English I couldn’t begin to ask. Maybe someone here will tell me?

Two Birthdays

Once again a nice memory of my late parents, and I am glad that there are these few snatches of them that live on. As indeed do the charming scenes of all three little ones so cute and tiny, and Elena walking around on her own. These were the days we thought would never end, and thanks to video, my friend, in a sense they don’t.

We start off in the old town square and end up in Restauracja Ratuszowa, one of the nice traditional spots in Poznan, and the live music chimes up, so as is my wont, I immediately embarrass my friends and the pianist by singing along, heh heh heh.
