RL102-21 Basic Russian Grammar – “with” for instrumentality and accompaniment

Original YT playout date: 10 January 2010
Duration: 24:15

“You waited a long time for this, longer than I promised. But this episode should show to you that the Huliganov Russian Course is not dead. The more people I get staying the course to this level, the more inclined I’ll be to do more. When 12 hours of solid work get me the same view count as something that basically needs an hour, you can see why I don’t do them that much, so it’s up to you. If you share the course, the course will grow. “”Simply as dat””, as the Professor might say…

Complete with a joke and a Russian song, hopefully you will say that the lesson is just as good as they used to be.

In answer to the requests for a translation:
1. Original, 2 literal, 3 free and rhyming (just).

In youth pain forgets itself soon
When you are young you get over things quickly

Tears having-wiped-down you laugh again
Your eyes soon dry, you can smile once again

Time goes-by and always as such
As days go by I’ll recall how you look now

I-will you to-remember
That’s how for me you’ll remain

Happiness short God to-us measured-out
People are not put on earth to be happy

Inconstant (is the) human soul
Or if they are not for long anyhow

I after-all not for-nothing in this fairy-tale not believed
You won’t fool me with “”happy ever after””

Too good it is.
It’s just too good to be true

How you beautiful today
My, you look lovely this evening

There-is-not in my heart neither of pain, neither of bad
I don’t feel angry no more, all is fine

How you beautiful today
My, you look lovely this evening

How you today bright
I see your bright beauty shine

May be, time somebody and heals
Maybe there are those who find time a healer

Only to-me help of-it not needful
I don’t need healing, I’ll take any pain

You come back, and I each evening
You just come home to me, and like this evening

I-will you remember
For me you’ll always remain

One translation is if you want to understand how the Russian works, the other is to understand the sense of the song and sing it in English if you want to.

Hey Valeriy, sing my English words and have yourself a hit in the entire world. You deserve it.

The 20th lesson in this series, the 30th Huliganov lesson in the Russian course, and we’re not even half way to what I have in mind. Sorry that this one is a bit disjointed, but there were interruptions and I had very little preparation time. Just wanted to go a step forward as there has been nothing for 3 months. Thanks for your patience.
