Other remarks:
There is nothing like a version of a well belowed song speeded up chipmunk style to bring out the dislikes. I can’t understand now why I even did that, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
“Now here you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down
Its only right
That you should play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat.. drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost…
And what you had…
And what you lost
Thunder only happens when its raining
Players only love you when theyre playing
Say… women… they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean… youll know
Now here I go again, I see the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself
Its only me
Who wants to wrap around your dreams and…
Have you any dreams youd like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness…
Like a heartbeat… drives you mad…
In the stillness of remembering what you had…
And what you lost…
And what you had…
And what you lost
Thunder only happens when its raining
Players only love you when theyre playing
Say… women… they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean… youll know ”
Despite what you might think from the fact of chipmunking it, this is a beloved song of mine. It had partticular meaning for me as a song of the summer when I was 14 years old and got swept out to sea in a freezing mountain wind near Ullapool in Scotland. In fact, right here:
Afterwards I was determined to become a more proficient rower and learned how from a very nice older boy from Middlesborough called Gary, and he used to like a song while rowing, so this was one of the ones we used to sing.
Quote of the clip: “Women, women come and women go. When the rain washes you, clean your nose”.
