Other remarks:

The idea of this video was to mark the placing of polar bears by the US on the Endangered Species list as “vulnerable” and therefore limit the hunting rights of Inuits against them, which greatly annoyed the Inuits, to which I say, “OK, give us back your fridges and freezers and microwave ovens and shops with processed foods from all over the world, labour saving devices and modern medicines and go back to your hunter gatherer lifestyle, and kill bears with spears and arrows and be killed by them. But don’t have your Nike boots and hunting rifles and all of civilisations conveniences allowing your numbers sto grow and still expect to be able to hunt bears. One way, or the other. Don’t try to have your cake and eat it.”

The Polar bear itself has had a taxonomic journey I would like to explore in a quite separate article at some stage. It shows up very well some of the vagaries of science and how people think they know things and then get their world turned upside down by something they have overlooked, and discover that what the initial guy thought was actually true after all. But that’s for another day.

The idea of producing a gallery of polar bear images from the net against the song Vulnerable by Roxette is my idea and I still think they go together well, ma Michelle, but neither any of the photos nor the song were made by me, more’s the pity.
