Fledglings Sledging

For those of you who come from the other side of the Atlantic, you may not understand what I say when I say sledging. It is the way we say “”sledding””. I don’t know how the “”-edge”” part dropped out of the American way, but to the best of my knowledge we have the edge on you there.

There are many words which do end in -ed which would sound funny if you replaced the -ed with -edge, though. Imagine going to somebody’d wedging, for instance. “With this ring, I thee wedge” – well they can be a tight fit. And it could be true in a sense in some cases, where no wedging had happened prior to the ceremony.

Anyhow, this is how New Years Day 2010 looked for our family…
