Second part of Gold list method in Polish. The first part has been up for sometime, when Kuba came for a lesson, but it cut off before I got on to the practical part, of how to actually maintain a gold list book, or set of books. Continue reading “Metodologia Gold List #2 – Jak To Dziala w Praktyce”→

Driving from the Amber Hotel through Olesnice towards Namyslow I start to talk about why Polish language has more exotic elements in it, more aspects usually more associated with oriental languages, than Russian has. This is really developing a thesis of mine that Poland has an oriental culture.

This was my summary after 4 years. It is of course 11 and a half years since that time, that I am adding it to this blog, but the thing about the vlogging hobby is that it does keep former times fresh like nothing else really can.
I wrote:
“I’ve been here 4 years – and on this night drive I talk about that and my whole YouTube agenda, about huliganov.tv, about facebook, about LinkedIn and finish off with something about road safety. Even Salma Hayek gets a mention, so there’s something for everybody in this. Recorded in HD but rendered without HD as the video is simply a dark road with not much to be worth the extra bytes, this is more of an audiocentric piece. Some people said they missed the longer talkier ones after I got my new camera, so this one is more for you if you were one of those people who said that.
I think this is the way to link to me on LinkedIn, as requested in the video. The group name on LinkedIn to join is “”Linguists and Polyglots””. TIA.”
This group is still active by the way and taking members. A decent level of community discussion has never been achieved in all that time. Maybe one day that will take off.

Continue reading “Metodologia Gold List – Pochodzenie i Dlaczego To Dziala”→

“You waited a long time for this, longer than I promised. But this episode should show to you that the Huliganov Russian Course is not dead. The more people I get staying the course to this level, the more inclined I’ll be to do more. When 12 hours of solid work get me the same view count as something that basically needs an hour, you can see why I don’t do them that much, so it’s up to you. If you share the course, the course will grow. “”Simply as dat””, as the Professor might say…
Complete with a joke and a Russian song, hopefully you will say that the lesson is just as good as they used to be.
In answer to the requests for a translation:
1. Original, 2 literal, 3 free and rhyming (just).
In youth pain forgets itself soon
When you are young you get over things quickly
Tears having-wiped-down you laugh again
Your eyes soon dry, you can smile once again
Time goes-by and always as such
As days go by I’ll recall how you look now
I-will you to-remember
That’s how for me you’ll remain
Happiness short God to-us measured-out
People are not put on earth to be happy
Inconstant (is the) human soul
Or if they are not for long anyhow
I after-all not for-nothing in this fairy-tale not believed
You won’t fool me with “”happy ever after””
Too good it is.
It’s just too good to be true
How you beautiful today
My, you look lovely this evening
There-is-not in my heart neither of pain, neither of bad
I don’t feel angry no more, all is fine
How you beautiful today
My, you look lovely this evening
How you today bright
I see your bright beauty shine
May be, time somebody and heals
Maybe there are those who find time a healer
Only to-me help of-it not needful
I don’t need healing, I’ll take any pain
You come back, and I each evening
You just come home to me, and like this evening
I-will you remember
For me you’ll always remain
One translation is if you want to understand how the Russian works, the other is to understand the sense of the song and sing it in English if you want to.
