A flying visit to Bratislava

Original YT playout date: 29 August 2009
Duration: 12:48

I try to make a few memories of a very rushed trip to the capital city of Slovakia. This is demonetised because of the taxi driver’s music we can barely hear. Bots are better are hearing small sounds than we are.

Trip to Brno, see Spielberg and Jovovich

Original YT playout date: 8 July 2009
Duration: 37:22

Went to Brno, the “Austrian Manchester’. It is of course now not in Austria any more. It is generally regarded as the second city of the Czech Republic, and the capital of the region of Moravia.

Every youtuber aspires to be a budding Spielberg – but where does that name come from geographically? Possibly a number of places, but the most famous is this Habsburg political prison.

Dresden

Original YT playout date: 24 May 2009
Duration: 43:02

This film is the first in a new era, after joining Baker Tilly and setting up in the Czech Republic. We are going to the Czech Republic, also Dresden to meet the team, as well as meet the German Baker Tillians who have lots of work for the Czech firm. Or so they claimed. This Dresden film went up before any of my 100+ Prague Vlogs, to follow.

I think it’s quite appropriate that I am moving into showing this new era, the second third, if you like, of my YouTube content, in this new decade. Some people call it the new decade from last year, when 2019 becomes 2020, others say that there was no year zero therefore year 1 to year 10 was the first decade. OK, when it’s 2019 I like to maximise my motivation then, and when it’s the end of 2020 I like to maximise my emotion now. I have more reasons, which I will not rehearse here, to say that I like the 2020 end and 2021 start decade theory. It all goes back to what I was doing at midnight on 31st December 2000, and a decision I made then which I am very happy I made. I didn’t cross the Elba that night, but I did cross three important rivers – the Vistula, the Odra and the personal Rubicon.
