This is another example of the kind of collaborations and experimenting that people got up to in the YT community in the early days. Here one youth of the USA hands out his number and invites the whole world to call, but when Huliganov does it becomes clear that Luke Johnson is no longer interested in taking further calls. I wonder why?

This was another example of the things early youtubers did in the community, in this case it was a response to a YouTuber called Bowiechick who did a video of herself performing a song speeded up and named it using a string of verbs from the song. When you did, in the early days of YT, a video response, it automatically took the name of the video you were responding to and added the word “re” in front in the title. Now it seems to make no sense as all the responses have been decoupled, but as a memory of the features YouTube used to have when it was by the people for the people, and not Corporate special interests as it is today. Today we have been stabbed in the back, and most earlier YouTuber shave fallen by the wayside.

Unlike many of the early YT community Bowiechick is still producing videos, and you can easily find her channel.

Vot “Ono”! Viktor Dmitrievitch Huliganov presents “Imagine”

In response to Bowiechick’s request for versions of “Imagine”, how could Huliganov resist putting together his own version of that classic piece of Communist propaganda?

Bowiechick or Melody herself is a YouTube institution, and is still posting after all these years, but not at rate of several a week, unfortunately. I will admit that watching her early stuff gave me some more ideas and confidence to mess about and be myself on these flms, do characters, etc, so I have nothing but positive sentiment to her. And she has her share of haters despite everything. See http://www.youtube.com/bowiechick to sub to her channel and see the hilarious stuff she has done.

One case in point is the fact that it’s oin response to her call to the YT community that I make my first ever webcam-karaoke film. I did some snatches of singing a capello in earlier films, but this is actually the first time that I sit and do a whole song – albeit in a spoofy way – for the webcam.

The first of many.
